Crock Pot Beef Stew
Ingredients to buy
- ☐2 lbsSteak cubes
- ☐1 canBeef broth
- ☐1 canCondensed tomato soup (10.75 oz)
- ☐1Golden onion (Large)
- ☐2Russet potatoes (Large)
- ☐4Carrots
- ☐4Celery stalks
- ☐8 ozMushrooms (sliced)
- ☐1 canPeas
Ingredients you probably have
- ☐Celery seed
- ☐Bay leaves
Equipment needed
- ☐12 inNon-stick skillet
- ☐~Crock pot
- Prepare the vegetables
- Peel and slice the onions.
- Peel and cube the potatoes.
- Cut carrots into 1 inch slices.
- Bias-cut celery into 1 inch slices.
- Coat the meat with flour, in small batches to ensure even coverage.
- Brown the meat in the skillet in oil over medium-high heat. Brown in batches, transferring to crock pot when done. Retain the fond.
- After all the meat is done, pour some beef broth into the skillet and scrape up the fond.
- Add in to the skillet and stir to combine:
- Tomato soup
- Italian seasoning (1 tbsp)
- 2 bay leaves
- Black pepper (1 tsp)
- Butter (2 tbsp)
- Pour the skillet mixture over the meat in the crock pot.
- Add in to the crock pot:
- Onions
- Potatoes
- Carrots
- Celery
- Mushrooms
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.
- 30 min before serving, add:
- Peas
- Butter (2 tbsp)
- Remove the bay leaves prior to serving (if you can find them)
